💧🌽 The Colorado River is the lifeline of the Southwest.
More than half of the river’s flow (52%) goes to irrigated agriculture, often to grow crops like alfalfa and hay that feed cattle. Cities and towns use about 18%, while 19% sustains wetlands and riparian ecosystems, and another 11% evaporates from vast reservoirs. Every drop (and more) is spoken for.
Consumers are not powerless. Choosing plant-based meals and water-wise foods eases pressure on #rivers. Supporting regenerative farms keeps ecosystems healthier. Reducing food waste saves hidden water. And by demanding transparency from companies, we call for river-positive choices with our wallets.
Lovethe.Earth empowers people to make sustainable purchases through education, advocacy, and community engagement—proving that small, everyday actions can add up to big change.
Earth Gives is a national giving campaign that shines a spotlight on nonprofits working every day to protect our health, restore ecosystems, reduce pollution, and build resilience in the face of climate change.
Here’s why your support truly matters: Only 2% of all charitable giving in the US goes to environmental nonprofits, while even less (just 0.5%) reaches environmental justice work.
